The development of adaptive clothing has greatly increased the freedom and independence of disabled persons. And toward that end, it has been a great blessing, but unfortunately so many of the adaptive clothing options out there were still a bit out of touch on the fashion front.

Of course, the first priority of adaptive clothing should be its usefulness for people with disabilities. But that doesn’t mean it has to totally ignore our desire to look and feel like our best selves. Fortunately, the last decade has brought an increase in adaptive clothing options that don’t ignore popular trends in fashion.

While there are many options, in this post we’ve covered five places to go for adaptive clothing that don’t check their fashion sense at the door.

MagnaReady

magnaready adaptive clothing brands

This clothing line offers a unique solution to the problem of button-up dress shirts. MagnaReady has helped to solve this problem by using magnets to avoid the need for difficult-to-use traditional buttons without sacrificing the look and quality of a fine dress shirt. Coming in both men’s and women’s styles, these shirts look and feel just like a traditional shirt.

Bowel Care for Spinal Cord Injured Patients: Enemeez®

The Enemeez® formulation functions as a stool-softening, hyperosmotic laxative by drawing water into the bowel from surrounding body tissues. The docusate sodium in this mini enema product acts as a softener by preparing the stool to readily mix with watery fluids. The increased mass of stool promotes bowel evacuation by stimulating nerve endings in the bowel lining and initiating peristalsis. Not only does it soften and loosen the stool, but it initiates a normal, replicated bowel movement within 2-15 minutes.

Enemeez® Plus contains 20mg of benzocaine, assisting in the anesthetization of the rectum and lower bowel. This formulation was developed for patients who experience autonomic dysreflexia, hemorrhoids, fissures, or painful bowel movements.
