Meet the Thrive Advocates

Meet the Thrive Advocates
In October 2019, Enemeez® launched The Thrive Community. Enemeez® goal in launching Thrive was to provide a safe, engaging and educational space for any person with a disability, their caretakers and healthcare providers. Ask questions, connect with peers and empower each other through open communication and engagement and share the power of ‘choosing to thrive’. Our conversations are led by incredible individuals who themselves are choosing to thrive.

Meet some of our key Thrive Advocates here!

Ryan Gebauer

thrive community advocates ryanRyan has led a very interesting life. In June 1995, when Ryan was only 16 years old, his world changed forever. Ryan and his friends were climbing a tree in his neighborhood, and when Ryan jumped out of that tree into the lake below, he lost his balance and broke his neck at the C3-4 level, leaving him paralyzed. He was hospitalized for six months following his inury. During that time, he had numerous surgeries, went through rehabilitation and generally learned how to live as a quadriplegic. While many would simply give up, Ryan made another choice.  He chose to get better rather than bitter.  With that positive attitude, in 2008 he received a Masters in Business Administration after receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science, Criminal Justice and Business in 2004, became an advocate for the disabled, and a pillar of the community. Ryan was forced in the harshest manner and at a very early age to learn to overcome obstacles and with that knowledge he helps people. He is considered a valuable asset to this community by everyone who comes into contact with him. Ryan touches many lives in his community through his outreach, volunteering and his work as a mentor. He is honest, highly intelligent, and perceptive.  Because of his positive disposition and his reflective way of operating, he is able to motivationally speak at schools throughout South Florida about his life and the importance of life in general.  With his candid sense of humor and real-life experiences, he teaches how to turn adversity into opportunity, and how each of us can overcome our individual limitations.  He has incredible creative energies and abilities to accomplish what needs to be done.  One of Ryan’s most amazing qualities is his ability to overcome adversity and turn a challenge into an opportunity. Ryan learned something from his life of adversity, which he is teaching others on a daily basis …”NEVER GIVE UP!” Tune in to Facebook Live in the Thrive Community to hear Ryan review popular products and equipment he uses in daily life, as well as answer questions we gets on a regular basis from other individuals with spinal cord injuries.
