Keeping Kids Hydrated During Summer Months
As the heat fast approaches, it’s important to make sure your kids are staying hydrated. The American Association of Pediatrics recommends that children drink six glasses of water a day.
Tips for keeping your kids hydrated, especially during the summer months:
- Don’t wait for them to ask for water or say they’re thirsty. Offer them water throughout the day and especially during outdoor activities.
- Fill larger water containers for kids so they have access to a good of amount of water.
- Make drinking fun with crazy straws.
- If your child doesn’t want “boring” plain water, offer Gatorade or a flavored water enhancer.
- Try not to offer drinks with caffeine, as they are not as hydrating or can even promote dehydration
